  • This demo course aims to demonstrate some of the key features introduced in Moodle 4.2 and 4.3.

    • This sample book demonstrates how the redesigned activity card looks in Moodle.

      Student View:

      1. Activity Cards are now compact to avoid the Scroll of death.
      2. Completion conditions are now in a drop-down list on the top right.
      3. Show more Toggle available to see the Access Restriction.

      Teacher View: 

      1. On Edit mode, the Group icon appears for the activities that support the group for simpler group management.
      2. Availability can easily be changed easily with an option under the three dots in the activity.
      3. If the activity completion is set or if the availability is set as hidden. The settings can be easily changed with a drop-down.


    • Communication Matrix Available for 4.3


      The Communication Matrix is a tool to set up a communication platform for users in the LMS similar to MS Teams or WhatsApp. Note this requires a paid license with Matrix: https://matrix.org/

      To enable this, Navigate to Site Administration --> Development --> Experimental settings.

      Check the Enable communication providers and save changes

    • Text and Media Area Labels

       

      Text and media areas can now have names that can get displayed in the Course index.



    • Book resources - Floating buttons

      Buttons in the book activity are now "floating" in the middle of the page:

    • Content Bank - Copy Content menu item


      Moodle 4.3 now includes the option to copy a H5P activity inside the Content Bank.
      To do this:
      1. Access the content bank
      2. Click on a H5P activity
      3. Click on More
      4. Click on Copy Content

    • Add activities anywhere!

      In Moodle 4.3, if you move your mouse in between 2 activities you will see a "plus" sign pop up to allow you to add a new activity in that specific spot.

    • Course section improvements (Duplicate and Permalink)

      There are now two additional options available in the Section menu item:

      1. Duplicate and copy the section

  • Course LTI settings are now available

    Teachers can now access pre-configured LTI Tools within courses by going to More > LTI External Tools


    Teacher's can also turn on and off which LTI tools are shown within the activity chooser

    • New Gradebook features (Collapse, search and filter)

      The gradebook now allows you to:

      1. Easily collapse columns that are not required.
      2. Search by user name
      3. Use a filter similar to the participants page to find particular users

       

    • Gradebook Setup - Collapse Categories feature

      Categories within the Gradebook set up page now have an icon it to collapse and minimise:

  • TinyMCE 4.3 Updates

    • TinyMCE is the default text editor in the LMS. eWorks recommends keeping using the ATTO editor for the time being as it is still superior in features. This will change as Moodle upgrade TinyMCE in the next few upgrades.

    • A full-screen button is available for editing content:

  • Question Bank changes in 4.3:

    • The question bank now has improved searching and filtering similar to other areas of Moodle™.
    • Teachers can hide, remove, or resize columns in the question bank.
    • Teachers can customize question numbers.
    • Teachers can reopen attempts never submitted.

  • In 4.3, Boost now allows bulk changes to your course (delete, move, duplicate, hide, or change visibility).

  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is now available out of the box in Moodle 4.3.

    When set up, users are prompted to authenticate after entering their username and password:
